A Favor, Please, Mr. President

Dear President Obama,

I realize you are busy; perhaps you will not have the time to read this, but I am compelled to send it anyway.

A favor please:

For the next 4 weeks--over the holiday season--could you and Michelle and your two precious daughters please fly commercially along with the rest of us. Could you please go to the airport. . . go thru the pat downs, the grope-ups and the screw-ups. . . the way the rest of us do when we go to the airport to travel to family during these all-important days of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Could you please get to the airport a few hours early to allow for the "opt-out" on Wednsday, the day before

Thanksgiving and feel the anxiety of families around you.

Then, after you find your seat and store your luggage in the overhead compartment, could you please take a moment to look at the faces of your family and give some thought to the cargo residing underneath them in the belly of that commercial airline, luggage that HAS NOT BEEN SCREENED, EXAMINED, OR X-RAYED FOR EXPLOSIVE DEVICES IN PRINTERS, LAPTOPS OR WHATEVER THESE JIHADISTS HAVE COME UP WITH TO KILL US. . . .

The technology and the screening of ALL cargo would restore and convert a dissallusioned public into feeling more secure. . . and restore our faith that our government's first and foremost priority is to provide safety for it's citizens.

THINK ABOUT SITTING ON THAT PLANE, STARING AT YOUR WIFE AND DAUGHTERS. . . . AND THEN THINK ABOUT HOW FORTUNATE YOU ARE, MR. PRESIDENT, NOT TO BE US, THE EVERYDAY, ORDINARY AMERICAN PUBLIC.

PLEASE, just for one month, may I use Air Force One and you take a commercial flight in place of me and my cherished loved ones . . . Only then can you begin to understand how frightening it is for many to realize that all the efforts by the TSA are futile without proper screening of cargo and without adequate technology for each and every reservation made on a commercial airline.

PLEASE, MR. PRESIDENT, LET ME REMIND YOU AND MR. BRENNAN, your Chief Anti-terrorism Advisor, about a brilliant search engine by the name of GOOGLE. . . . By merely typing a word in your Google block, you are able to acquire extensive information on anything from Thornton Dental Floss to the atomic bomb. . . . .

I suggest you speak with Google to update the process of making a flight reservation. . . . . red-flagging overseas travelers/ mideast travel, those on the no-fly list. . . . For forty years, El Al has been successfully scrutinizing every commercial airline passenger, thus preventing our 9/11.

I would appreciate your considering this proposal; however, may I suggest you wear loafers, as they are much more readily removed for screening. And please remind Michelle and the girls, three ounces only, of sunscreen and shampoo.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

May we Always be FREE!

Freedom is similar to breathing . . . we never really appreciate breathing ‘til we grow short of breath . . . Then we are forever changed, and we grow to appreciate every breath we take . . . and so it is with being free.

For sure, I have grown to appreciate my freedom . . . every hour of every day; and when I am asked why I decorate my automobile with old glory and bumper stickers of the armed forces, I am compelled to say," I walk out my door in the morning . . . and I am free! I sip on coffee of my choice; I attend the church of my choice; I read a newspaper of my choice; I voice my opinion without fear or intimidation . . . I am free!

But as the bumper stickers on my car attest," Freedom is NOT free." Brave men and women grace this planet and defend our freedom every day . . . They leave their families, their jobs, their every-day lives to walk unchartered lands defending our freedoms . . . keeping us free . . .

Consequently, in honor of these beautiful patriots, please – if you would – take the time to thank one of our men or women in uniform for your freedom. More than likely, as this happened yesterday to me, they will look you in the eye, reach out to shake your hand and respond with the utmost humility, "You're welcome, ma'am. It was my honor."

These men and women are remarkable in principle and patriotism . . .

God Bless them all, past and present. . .
God Bless the United States of America . . .
May we always be free!

FRANK & DODD GET OFF "SCOTT-FREE"

WE sent Scott Brown to Washington to be the forty-first vote against any legislation that represented an overreach of big government.

The financial regulation reform bill is just that-an overreach of big government lacking checks and balances and Congressional oversight. This bill pretty much hands over 1/6 of our economy to the Federal Reserve and the Treasury.... Tim Geitner and Ben Bernanke (aka the executive branch). This bill, 2,300 pages, is called 'reform'; however, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Housing Administration are never addressed – they get off “Scott-free”.

Yesterday on talk radio, Senator Brown said that Fannie and Freddie would be addressed later.... I am going to be waiting.... and I have the feeling that I shall be waiting a long time.

Sadly, the financial reform bill continues the saga of 'too big to fail.' To be sure, large banks will be 'too big to fail.' However, the smaller regional/community banks will be under the direct jurisdiction of the Federal Reserve and the Treasury.... and without any congressional oversight, the fate of the smaller banks will be destined to the whim of both these heavy-hitting authorities... only fifteen percent of the smaller banks have repaid TARP, and of that 15 percent, ten percent are in arrears one month, as of July 15th... instead of the normal business cycle of mergers and acquisitions or FDIC protection, these smaller banks will be dissolved.... at the discretion of the Federal Reserve and the Treasury....Tim Geitner and Ben Bernanke.....

ONCE AGAIN, THE TEN LARGER BANKS WILL BE TOO BIG TO FAIL, THE SMALLER BANKS WILL BE TOO SMALL TO SURVIVE.

This bill perpetuates the very problem it was meant to correct – yet, they call it reform. And THIS Scott Brown voted in favor of...bigger government, no checks and balances....

To make matters worse, Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson have added 26 anti-discrimination amendments entailed in one of the largest bureaucratic layers of government we have ever witnessed, the Consumer Protection Agency.

And THIS Scott Brown voted in favor of...bigger government, no checks and balances....

If Scott Brown decided to vote republican only ten times, this should have been one of the ten times.... This was NOT 'just another bill." We saw that Senator Brown was vacillating when he was the deciding vote for cloture on this bill...

Scott Brown was a realistic hope for limited-government.

How disappointing.

When Senator Brown was on the radio he said “This bill is good for Massachusetts.” But I would like to respond to that comment by telling Senator Brown – what is bad for our country is bad for Massachusetts.

Please call Senator Brown’s office and let him know you’re disappointed:

God Bless and help the small banks and God bless the United States of America.

If Government is not Limited. . . Man is not Free

HERE WE GO AGAIN...

Under the guise of the word ‘reform’, we, the taxpayer hand over another sixth of our economy to the Federal Reserve and the Treasury.... aka - the
executive branch of our government.

The financial reform bill DOES NOT address the original culprit of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, not to mention the Federal Housing Administration.... billions of tax dollars are going into these three government bureaucracies without congressional oversight.

The Financial reform bill imposes a tax on the banks. Arbitrarily, our government has decided that the banks have not paid enough in repaying TARP with interest...

The Treasury has decided that the responsibility for our economic downturn resides with Wall Street and the “too big to fail” banks.
Now, our government--the Treasury--has decided the banks must pay a tax to 'restore' the damage of our economic demise...

BUT NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR FREDDIE MAC, FANNIE MAE & FHA.... NADA.

THE FINANCIAL REFORM BILL CREATES STILL-ANOTHER HUGE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY... so there will be a tax on the banks.... which is passed onto us, the consumers. Your credit card rates WILL rise. Small community banks will be hurt and live in fear of takeover by the feds. And "too big to fail” banks will, in fact, still be too big to fail...and will probably be bailed out.... again.

The cost of this newly-created financial reform and Consumer Protection Agency will be 20 billion...

This 'reform' is NOT 'constitutionally-limited' by any definition....
This 2,300-page financial reform bill is by no means reform – it is another take-over as was the healthcare bill.

I beg you to make calls to Senators Scott Brown, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins.

The main Senate switchboard number is: 202-224-3121

The White House Comment line is: 202-456-1111

Scott Brown's direct number is 202-224-4543

If you only have time to make one call, please call Scott Brown and ask Senator Brown to vote “NO” on the Financial Regulation Reform Bill.

THIS IS AS IMPORTANT AS THE HEALTHCARE BILL.... PLEASE MAKE A CALL.... PLEASE.

God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

Good Government Provides - it does not dictate

I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO WORK FOR ME - NOT DICTATE TO ME.

Pure and Simple:

Here is what I expect from my government:

I want to go to Amtrak, get on a train and arrive safely at my destination...I do not want the government to tell me what train to take or where to go....

I want to go to an airport, get on a flight. I want to know that my pilot is experienced, sober and that the maintenance of the plane is adequate....

I do not want the government to tell me which airline to take...or where to go....

I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO WORK FOR ME - NOT DICTATE TO ME.

I want the TSA and the FAA to be efficient. I want the 'no-fly-list to be enforced and, of course, I shall comply with all regulations. Again, I do not need the government to tell me which airline to fly or where to go; I just need the government to provide airports and airplanes that provide safe travel...9/11 taught me that government agencies are vulnerable: TSA, FAA, FBI, CIA, INS. . . All these governmental agencies failed all Americans on 9/11.

I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO WORK FOR ME - NOT DICTATE TO ME.

I want to send my children to a quality public school with skilled teachers and a curriculum that has no bias and no political slant. I want to know that my children will be prepared for college.... I do not need the government to tell me what school to which my children should go or whether or not my children and grandchildren have to attend college.....I just want my public schools to be effective tools of growth and knowledge....bottom line.

I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO WORK FOR ME - NOT DICTATE TO ME.

I want the government to administer safe vaccinations and flu shots to me and my children; BUT I do not need the government--nor do I expect the government - to dictate to me what inoculations we should have.... it is my sole choice--not the government's...I want my prescriptions to be safe. I want all clinical trials to be legitimized without political bias. I want the FDA to do its job; but I do not need nor want the government to dictate to me what I should ingest into my body...

I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO WORK FOR ME - NOT DICTATE TO ME.

I want to hike a mountain stream, a riverbed or dive into an ocean and be unscathed by polluted waters. I want the DOE, the EPA and the MMS to do their job and provide me with the luxury to enjoy clean air and clean water; but I do not need the government to tell me they are sorry that government regulations failed. I am tired of empty apologies and deferred blame. I want my government 'to work,' to perform and to provide, at the very minimum, safety. And I do not want my government to tell me that I am safe diving into an ocean that has been flooded with a dispersants that are illegal to use in the UK and Europe (as of June 13, 2010, British Petroleum has refused to divulge the chemicals used as dispersants for the Gulf oil spill area).

I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO WORK FOR ME - NOT DICTATE TO ME.

I want my government to provide me with honest information, so that I can vote and feel assured that 'my vote will count.' I want my government to provide voting machines that work. In our last election Diebold machines could not provide correct evidence of a person's vote. Again, I DO NOT want the government to tell me for whom I should vote; but it is the government's job and responsibility to provide an efficient, honest system, so that I can have a voice in this great republic of mine, the United States of America.

I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO WORK FOR ME - NOT DICTATE TO ME.

ON NOVEMBER 2, 2010, I shall go to the polls and vote for each and every candidate who understands exactly what constitutionally-limited government is. Constitutionally-limited government does not overtake - it provides - it does not dictate, it performs. It should work for us - not fail us.

After being a life-long Democrat, I became a Republican 8 years ago. However, three and one-half years ago, I became a genuine Independent.... and I shall vote like an Independent...because I want my government to work for me - not dictate to me.

God Bless You and God Bless America....

What makes sense anymore?

Today came the announcement that Barney Frank would be the co-coordinator/liaison to oversee the combining of the Senate-passed Financial Reform Bill and the House version. Think about that, America... just think about that... That announcement is like putting Jack Kevorkian in charge of Health Care...

Barney Frank, along with Chris Dodd, are the failed architects to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; and although no one wants to say it, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is where the sub-prime mortgage debacle began...

But America, think of how little sense this makes, Barney in charge of Financial Reform-one sixth of our economy being handed over to The federal Reserve and the U. S. Treasury... no checks and balances, no accountability, just at the whim of executive power...

Add Scott Brown's affirmative vote last week for cloture.... add Olympia Snowe, add Susan Collins... what a trilogy...

My expectation of sending Scott Brown to Washington was simple, that he would be the 41st vote advocating for “constitutionally-limited government.” Well, Scott Brown defends his affirmative vote for the Financial Reform Bill by proclaiming that the bill provides transparency; but Scott Brown-like many on capitol hill-does not understand the difference between the fiduciary responsibility of being a financial advisor versus the responsibility of 'making a market.' When you are trading a million shares from a buyer to a seller, no one asks for anyone's home address and phone number... nor should they.

In response to a question on talk radio Friday, Senator Brown said, "I have always said I would vote for each bill on it’s individual merit, and this bill was good for the state of Massachusetts." Senator Brown is starting to sound like Sen. Stupak of Michigan, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Bill Nelson of Florida... but I wonder what exactly Scott Brown received for his vote...
Instead of holding out with his affirmative vote, Scott Brown used his leverage long before he had to and lost his power to curb the formation of the Consumer Protection Agency, another huge bureaucracy included with the Financial Reform Bill... No checks and balances and an over-reach of government power...

When I look at what has happened to General Motors, the bastardizing of contractual law and the outright, flagrant, heavy-handed, convoluted manipulation of giving General Motors to the unions who were majorly-responsible for General Motors failing, then I begin to understand that, as long as I concede that nothing this Administration does makes sense, then it all makes sense...and that is very scary.
